Nama J2 vs Hurom H400
Nama J2 vs Hurom H400: What's the Difference?
The Nama J2 and Hurom H400 are both self-feeding slow juicers, but they approach the internal juicing and cleanup workflow differently. The J2 pairs a large self-feeding hopper with removable juice and coarse strainers; the H400 uses Hurom's Easy Cleaning Multi Auger, a strainer-free chamber design. This comparison focuses on those practical differences rather than declaring one machine universally better.

Manufacturer-listed specifications; they may change. "—" means we haven't verified a comparable figure. The H400's 550 ml figure is chamber capacity, not hopper capacity.
The Biggest Difference: Internal Juicing and Cleaning Design
The Hurom H400 uses the Easy Cleaning Multi Auger: a two-part auger with a strainer-free chamber that integrates the straining function instead of a conventional fine-mesh strainer.
The Nama J2 takes a different route: its hopper, chamber, auger, strainers and spinning brush are removable, with separate juice and coarse strainers and an included cleaning brush.
The designs approach straining and cleanup differently. Shoppers specifically interested in Hurom's strainer-free Easy Clean design may place more weight on the H400. BestSlowJuicer has not performed standardized cleaning-time testing between these machines.
Self-Feeding: J2 vs H400
Both machines are self-feeding: you load prepared produce into a hopper and the auger draws it in progressively, instead of pushing each piece through a narrow chute. That allows a batch-style routine where you load, let the machine work, then top up.
Some produce may still need to be washed, peeled or cut for either machine. The H400 lists a 1.8 in / 45 mm chute opening; we don't have verified hopper capacities for either model, so we don't compare how much each holds.
Motor Power
| Specification | Nama J2 | Hurom H400 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed power | 200W | 150W |
| Motor type | Single-phase induction | A/C |
Wattage alone doesn't establish juice yield, extraction quality, processing speed, durability or clog resistance — these machines use different internal systems.
RPM
| Specification | Nama J2 | Hurom H400 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed speed | 50 RPM | 90 RPM |
The machines run at different listed speeds, but a lower RPM doesn't automatically mean better juice, more nutrients, more yield or less oxidation. For how slow juicers differ from high-speed machines, see cold press vs centrifugal juicers.
Size and Counter Space
| Dimension | Nama J2 | Hurom H400 |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 9.8 in | 6.6 in |
| Depth | 9 in | 10.3 in |
| Height | 17.7 in | 18.5 in |
| Base footprint (W × D)* | ≈ 88.2 sq in | ≈ 68.0 sq in |
The H400 is 3.2 in narrower, while the J2 is 1.3 in shallower and 0.8 in shorter. Check both depth and under-cabinet height against your space.

Weight
| Specification | Nama J2 | Hurom H400 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed weight | 12.1 lb / 5.5 kg (with chamber set) | 14.8 lb |
The J2 is about 2.7 lb lighter (BestSlowJuicer calculation from manufacturer-listed weights). That's simply a weight difference, not a tested measure of portability.
Chamber Capacity and Batch Size
The H400 lists a chamber capacity of 550 ml / 18.6 oz. That figure describes the juicing chamber — it isn't a hopper capacity, batch capacity or pitcher size.
We haven't verified a directly comparable chamber capacity for the J2, so we don't compare the two or say which holds more ingredients. The capacity figures published for each machine aren't necessarily measured the same way.
Cleaning the J2 and H400
Hurom H400: the Easy Cleaning Multi Auger replaces a conventional fine-mesh strainer with a strainer-free chamber and two-part auger, so there's no separate mesh screen to scrub.
Nama J2: the hopper, chamber, auger, strainers and spinning brush come apart for rinsing, and Nama includes a cleaning brush for the strainers.
BestSlowJuicer has not timed the cleaning process side by side, so we don't name a winner.
J2 vs H400 for Celery
Celery stalks are long and fibrous, so both machines benefit from cutting stalks as the manufacturer recommends before loading the hopper. We haven't tested celery yield on either machine. See our best juicer for celery guide.
J2 vs H400 for Ginger
Ginger is dense and irregularly shaped, so peeling and cutting it into manageable pieces matters with either self-feeding hopper, and it's usually juiced alongside other produce. No yield claims here — see our best juicer for ginger guide.
J2 vs H400 for Carrots
Carrots are firm, so preparation and how you load the hopper shape the routine. Listed wattage and RPM don't tell you how either machine handles them. See our best juicer for carrots guide.

Nama J2 vs Hurom H400 FAQs
What is the main difference between the Nama J2 and Hurom H400?
Internal design. Both are self-feeding slow juicers, but the J2 uses removable juice and coarse strainers with a spinning brush, while the H400 uses Hurom's Easy Cleaning Multi Auger, a strainer-free chamber design. They also differ in listed speed (50 RPM vs 90 RPM), power and dimensions.
Is the Nama J2 better than the Hurom H400?
Not universally. The J2 may suit you if you prefer its large self-feeding hopper and conventional strainer setup, its dimensions fit your kitchen, or Nama's current promotion matters to you.
Is the Hurom H400 better than the Nama J2?
There's no overall winner. The H400 becomes the more natural choice mainly for shoppers who specifically want Hurom's strainer-free Easy Clean design or whose counter space suits its narrower, deeper and taller body.
Are the Nama J2 and Hurom H400 both cold press juicers?
Both are slow juicers that press produce with an auger rather than a fast-spinning blade: the J2 lists 50 RPM and the H400 lists 90 RPM.
Are both the J2 and H400 self-feeding?
Yes. The J2 uses a large self-feeding hopper and the H400 uses a self-feeding hopper. Some produce may still need to be washed, peeled or cut for either machine.
Which is easier to clean, the Nama J2 or Hurom H400?
We can't name a winner. The H400's Easy Cleaning Multi Auger is designed to avoid a conventional fine-mesh strainer, while the J2 uses removable strainers and includes a cleaning brush. BestSlowJuicer has not performed standardized side-by-side cleaning-time testing.
What is the Hurom H400's 550 ml capacity?
It is the H400's chamber capacity (550 ml / 18.6 oz). It is not a hopper capacity, and it isn't a measure of how much juice a batch produces.
Which is smaller, Nama J2 or Hurom H400?
It depends on the measurement. The H400 (6.6 × 10.3 × 18.5 in) is narrower, while the J2 (9.8 × 9.0 × 17.7 in) is shallower and shorter. By our calculation, the H400 has the smaller base footprint (about 68.0 vs 88.2 sq in).
Which is lighter?
The J2 lists 12.1 lb (with chamber set) and the H400 lists 14.8 lb, so the J2 is about 2.7 lb lighter by our calculation from manufacturer-listed weights.
Which has the more powerful motor?
The J2 lists 200W and the H400 lists 150W. Wattage alone doesn't establish yield, extraction quality, speed, durability or clog resistance.
Which spins slower?
The J2 lists 50 RPM and the H400 lists 90 RPM. A lower RPM doesn't automatically mean better juice, more nutrients, more yield or less oxidation.
Which is better for celery?
No proven winner. Both self-feed prepared celery, and we haven't tested celery yield. See our best juicer for celery guide.
Which is better for ginger?
No proven winner. Ginger is dense and irregular, so how you cut it matters; we haven't tested ginger yield. See our best juicer for ginger guide.
Which is better for carrots?
No proven winner. Carrots are firm, and wattage or RPM doesn't tell you how a machine handles them. See our best juicer for carrots guide.
